How to Make Videos for Your Website For Free!

Today we are going to look at how to put it on your website. We are not going to talk about how to edit a video or shoot because that would take a series of articles and that is just beyond the scope of what we want to do with this article. The good news is that you can use video on your fcp plugins with very minimal skills, such that if you can copy and paste you can put videos on your website.

We are at the point where people with internet connections can stream videos, and those with large band can stream high definition videos. I don’t think the written word is going to be obsolete, but if you are not using video in your marketing you are missing out on a very important source of communication.

There are three different types of video you can put on your website.

1. An embeddable video from a third party source.

This is the easiest way to put a video onto your website. There are

Hundreds of websites that offer embeddable videos, you can use small niche sites like “Vimeo”, “Veoh”, “Blip.tv, “Revver”, “Tangle”, or the large sites like MSNBC, or YouTube. You will notice that on the bottom of the videos there is a little button, usually on the right, that says embed.

2. Your own live action video

Now fortunately, you do not have to use such expensive equipment and software to put a live action video on your website. The great thing about “Flip” is after you shoot your video you can just plug it directly into your USB Port, and drop your videos files onto your computer.

Now, regardless of what type of camera you use you will have to convert to flash format for the web. Why “Flash”? For two reasons A. it is the best format for streaming and B. it is supported by the most widely used browser plugin for videos, this allows people to actually see your video.

Out of all the methods of adding videos to your website, this is the most difficult and complicated. There is the possible high cost of equipment and converting software, for example, $4,000 HD video camera, “Final Cut Studio” $1,300 editing software program, convert it to flash using “Adobe Flash” which is a $700 program and finally you can find a free flash player to embed it.

One last thing, you might not want to put videos from large video host like “YouTube”, on you site for three reasons:

1. Looks less professional

2. Displays ads

3. Links to the video host which is a distraction to your customer.

The good news is you can bypass all this for free by converting your videos. Think, if you use a Flip Camera and FLV Producer to convert to flash, you could put live action on your site in 10 min.

3. Your own screen capture video

You can use web cam as well since both are recorded directly onto your hard drive. “CamStudio” is another open source, free screen capture software.
